Totoo yan
Kamusta y'all!
So apparently there was an earthquake in the
Philippines this week, we didn't feel anything so it must have been a
ways a way. The boundaries for our branch were changed, so we got to
work in a new area this last week. The members got to take the lead in
helping us find the members houses and introducing us to people
missionaries had taught in the past. It's fun to have a new area to work
in and more people to talk to.
Because Sister Su'a had to
take an English test, we went to Santiago and got to see some other
missionaries and members taking the test as well. I got to see Sister
Mosiah from Ilagan, and Sister Sy who was my companion in Ilagan. It was
really cool to talk about the people we were teaching there and to know
how they're doing. They also told me that the sisters there now are
teaching a lot of people in Camunatan, an area Sister Sy and I had
worked in a lot. We would walk up and down that street all the time
trying to talk to everyone, but we never met anyone who was interested
or available. Sometimes I wondered why we kept going back to that street
because no one was there, but we just kept on trying.
Now those same people we talked to are ready, and they're the ones
being taught by the missionaries. And they remember that we talked to
them back in February/March. I know that our efforts to help others,
particularly through sharing the gospel, are always worth it. Often we
will never see the results but that doesn't mean those results don't
exist. Maybe your friend from high school still remembers your good
example. Maybe your neighbor will remember those cookies you brought
when they moved in. Maybe you texted someone right when they needed to
know someone cared. We usually don't know what effect our service will
have, but like it says in Preach My Gospel "No effort is wasted." And I
know that is true.
Aganad y'all!
