Kamusta y'all!
This week I've been thinking a lot about
Heavenly Father's plan for us, and about the wonderful hope we can have
because of Christ's Atonement. There have been several deaths in
Caliguian this past week. And Sister Abellana and I got to participate
at several different services. For nine days there are big tents set up
in front of the deceased's home. People gather there to show respect,
support, and celebrate. Then on the last day there's a service in their
respective church, and then a funeral procession to the cemetery. In a
little town like this, pretty much everyone is related somehow. So there
were a lot of people gathered together for the burial.
It's interesting to reflect at times like these. There are so many
people who don't really know what will happen after this life. People
lose their loved ones, and don't have the reassurance that they'll see
them again. I know that because of Christ's Atonement, all mourning for
loss will end. I know that death is just a part of our journey, and that
even the separation of body and spirit is impermanent. "But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ. He
is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless,
that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that
there can be no more death." Mosiah 16:8-9
