Bigla lang
Kamusta y'all!
We had sick day this week, because
Sister Su'a wasn't feeling well. But that didn't slow us down for too
long. We had a great time working with some members They helped us find
some new people to teach, and introduced us to some less active members
that we hadn't met yet.
I started over in reading the
Book of Mormon this week, so when I was asked to talk in sacrament
meeting I decided to talk about 1 Ne 3:5, 7. "And now, behold thy
brothers murmur, saying it is a hard thing which I have required of
them; but behold I have not required it of them, but it is a commandment
of the Lord... And it came to pass that I Nephi, said unto my father: I
will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know
that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he
shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he
commandeth them."
As I was pondering this story I focused
on the differences between Nephi and his brothers, Laman and Lemuel.
When Laman and Lemuel received the commandment they responded by
complaining. It was a hard commandment, and they weren't even sure that
it came from God. Nephi had just gained his own testimony that his
father Lehi was a prophet, so when he received the commandment he
responded confidently and faithfully. But ultimately, they all returned
to Jerusalem in obedience to God's command. Laman and Lemuel obeyed the
Lord's commandment and were blessed with protection and successfully
delivered the brass plates to their father. But the murmuring in their
hearts prevented them from having the spiritually transforming
experience like Nephi. Obedience will always bring blessings. But I know
that when we obey with our whole hearts and minds we recieve more than
just blessings. Our hearts and minds are then changed because of our
experience, and we recieve the joy of knowing our will is in harmony
with God's.
Aganad y'all!
