Pictures from the Philippines

This is a picture while she was in the Manila MTC. A couple of the sisters I recognize from when she was in the Provo MTC and one sister went to Florida with her.    Let's play where's Sister Harrison? Missionaries in the Manila MTC. There is another picture with another group of missionaries about the same number. This was a record breaking time for the Manila MTC with 281 missionaries staying there, the most they have ever had at one time. They had a departure devotional with President and Sister Schmutz, the new area president over the Philippines and his wife, right before the missionaries left to go to their areas. The missionaries said their goodbyes in the courtyard surrounded by their luggage. I got an email from her mission president this morning saying that she arrived there safely. We were hoping that she would be able to send us a message before leaving the MTC but we didn't hear anything. We don't know when her p-day will be so I g...

Kamusta y'all!    Well, I've left the country for the first time. Feel free to be surprised by my sudden departure, because I can promise you will not be more surprised than I was. A few weeks ago President Lee told us he had been told to plan on us being there for a second transfer, but on Saturday night we were told that we were being transferred to the Philippines. So, we had Sunday to pack and we left Monday afternoon. Four of us flew from Jacksonville to Atlanta, and from Atlanta to San Francisco. There we joined a group of over 30 missionaries also traveling to the Philippines. It was so fun to be reunited with everyone from my district at the MTC, except for the ones already in the Philippines. The first two flights weren't too bad, but the flight to Manila was... long. It actually wasn't as bad as I'd expected, and I managed to sleep a bit. (Though I was still completely exhausted the entire first day in Manila.)    When we got to Manila ...

Surprise!

Kamusta,     So, President Lee gave me permission to email you. Mama gets a birthday call tomorrow , because I'll be spending a lot of time in the airport... because I'm going to the Philippines! Feel free to be in shock, because I'm in more shock. Saturday night we had our transfer call, where President Lee just tells everyone where they're going. And "Sister Harrison is being transferred to her mission in the Philippines" Apparently he found out on Friday . I'm really excited and really terrified. I'm going to miss the Florida Jacksonville Mission so much! I don't know if I'll be doing any emailing tomorrow ... I'll figure that out. But I'll send my travel plans and you can tell me when to call you, I think it'd be best for me to call in San Francisco because I have more time there. But let me know what works... :)    Mahal kita!       Sister Harrison

Kamusta y'all!     It's been a good week. We went to a baptism with a man we're teaching named Adam. We got to meet the girl getting baptized, and she wants to meet with us and her friend she gave a Book of Mormon to. The best thing was that we got to teach Jean and his wife Jacqueline. They are so willing and eager to learn more about the gospel. We gave them both copies of the Book of Mormon, and the next time we talked to them they had a bunch of questions. They were both at church on Sunday , and they came at 8 instead of 10! And Mais and her daughters were there too! She was invited by her neighbor who was speaking in Sacrament Meeting.     This transfer has been flying by so quickly, and I've had so many great experiences and learned so much.  I've been told that I'll probably be here for at least another transfer. I don't really have any idea when I'll get my visa, but I'm in no hurry to leave Florida.  There are so many wonde...

Kamusta y'all!      This week has been excellent and we have seen so many miracles. Missionary work kind of goes in waves, and the last few weeks have been pretty slow.  We've worked really hard, but nothing really came from it. But I know that this is God's work, and we just need to do our best and be where He needs us to be.      We had tradeoffs again this week, and I got to stay in the St John's ward with Sister Conger. It was weird to be the one who knew the area and the people. We had dinner with Neetu and her daughter who we talked to on my first day in Florida. The sisters had talked to her a few times, but they hadn't talked much about the church. She made us some delicious Indian food, and we were able to talk to them about the Book of Mormon and they were both interested in learning more!      We got a referral from a member in our ward, but he was from a different area. So we called the sisters from his are...
