We were able to talk to Julia yesterday!  We got a surprise phone call at about 4:15 which was about 7 am Monday morning for her. It was so fun to talk to her. She's not sure how often she will call but she was able to find out from other missionaries that she could buy a pre paid phone card and had to switch it to work internationally.  Not sure how expensive it was and the missionaries phones cut off about every 10 minutes or so to make sure they don't use the phone too much generally. Like when the district leader calls he'll have to call back. So she had to keep calling us back. She ended up calling us 7 times :) Kamusta y'all!     Sister Sy are having a lot of fun in Ilagan and we're learning a whole bunch together. We've also been doing a lot more walking than I was used to, but I'm getting the hang of it. In Diffun we had to take tricys a lot because everything was so spread out, but here in the city we can just walk everywhere. The only do...

Kamusta y'all!    So this last week has been pretty exciting, seeing as I experienced my first transfer... that wasn't transferring to a different mission. I am currently in Ilagan and assigned to the Ilagan 1st ward. I am here with Sister Sy (pronounced See) and she is super cute -not just because she's so short. (Once again I have failed on the pictures front, but I'll have some next week!)    So transfers included finding out Tuesday afternoon, hurrying up and saying goodbye to as many people as possible, packing all my stuff that night, and taking an approximately 3 hour bus ride. I definitely miss Diffun, Sister Manumaleuga, and all my friends there. But I do not miss the apartment and the lack of running water in the mornings.       Because the Ilagan apartment is really pretty. Our landlord is a member of the bishopric and also happens to be a baker. So sometimes he randomly gives us cake, or brownies, or other assorted d...

Kamusta y'all!    This we were super busy, and it was so much fun. We're teaching Sister Bas who is getting ready for her wedding this week, but her mom is currently in the hospital. So even though she didn't want us to, we helped clean her house and her yard. It was really fun.    We're also teaching a kid named R-Jay and his baptism is getting close. But last week his foot started hurting, so he went to stay at his lola's(grandma) house. So he's a lot further away, but that wasn't going to stop us from teaching him! His parents were able to give us a ride in their... motorcycle attached to a cart. So we wend up and down hills in complete darkness and it was really exciting. And when we got to the top we were in the middle of a rice field so it was flat and the stars were so bright. It was so pretty, but it was dark so I couldn't really take any pictures :(    On Sunday we were asked to give impromtu talks, which I was accidentally pr...

Kamusta y'all!   So we had zone conference this week which is always great. President and Sister Hiatt weren't there because Sister Hiatt is in the hospital, which made it weird. But it was really good to see Sister Bitancor and some of my friends from the MTC.    Yesterday we had a miracle we've been waiting for since November. So we've been teaching the Manantan family since then, and they are so amazing. It's just Sister Manantan and her 10 and 8 year old kids. We gave each of the kids a copy of the Book of Mormon which they've been reading.     Sister Manantan would love to read, but she needs reading glasses. The mission office can provide reading glasses for free, but she doesn't know her perscription. We've been trying to find a solution- One member had a spare pair for her to try. We found an optometrist that wasn't too expensive, but it was in another city. So we'd need to find someone to give her a ride and a time whe...
