Totoo yan

Kamusta y'all!     So apparently there was an earthquake in the Philippines this week, we didn't feel anything so it must have been a ways a way. The boundaries for our branch were changed, so we got to work in a new area this last week. The members got to take the lead in helping us find the members houses and introducing us to people missionaries had taught in the past. It's fun to have a new area to work in and more people to talk to.     Because Sister Su'a had to take an English test, we went to Santiago and got to see some other missionaries and members taking the test as well. I got to see Sister Mosiah from Ilagan, and Sister Sy who was my companion in Ilagan. It was really cool to talk about the people we were teaching there and to know how they're doing. They also told me that the sisters there now are teaching a lot of people in Camunatan, an area Sister Sy and I had worked in a lot. We would walk up and down that street all the time try...

Sa Tagalog!

Kamusta y'all!      I'm not sure if this has been the longest or shortest week ever. But I have learned so much everyday. My kasama, Sister Topham, is so fun and because we're both new we get to struggle and figure things out together.    I've been told the work here goes in waves, and right now we're on the downhill. Which means we haven't found any new people to teach, most of the people we're teaching are busy and don't make time to talk to us, and some of the people we're teaching have dropped us. That isn't the most fun thing ever, but we just keep on working.     This last week we've met with the members a lot in order for me to get some practice teaching, and to ask for any referrals. The members in the St. Johns ward are so nice and generous. Apparently during most of the year they feed us almost every day, but because it's summer we've been getting fed about four times a week. Kamusta y'all!    Well, it was just the last week of September which means Family Week in the Philippines. We were able to attend to the celebration on Saturday and it was so fun! Family Week is always the biggest church event of the year. It's a whole stake celebration with a parade, performances, and games. Last month I was told about how family week started, so I thought I'd share it with y'all.    In September 1995, "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" was first introduced and church leaders in the Philippines presented the President of the Philippines with a copy of the document. He was so impressed that starting in 1996, the last week of September officially became known as "Family Week."
