Happy Thanksgiving!

Image
Kamusta y'all!    Except we didn't celebrate Thanksgiving here, but that's okay. I'm still grateful. One thing I'm grateful for is my new companion! Transfers were this week which means that I am officially no longer in training. Sister Tampus was transferred to Cauayan city, and though I definitely miss her I'm super excited for her to help the people there. And here with me in Diffun is Sister Manumaleuga! (Don't worry if you can't pronounce her name. Honestly it seems like we spend half our time teaching people her name :) She's Samoan but she's from Australia, which means she's got an awesome accent. She's been here for five months, and is still working on Tagalog so we're kinda just learning from each other. But Sister Manumaleuga is super nice and I'm super excited to learn from and with her.   Another thing I'm grateful for is that Jane aka Ningning was baptized! She's 11 and so cute.  We would meet h

Kamusta y'all!    It was a pretty crazy week with a lot of traveling, but it was good too. On Wednesday we had our Zone Conference in Cauayan city, which meant we had to stay over the night before in Santiago so we could get to the conference on time the next day. Elder and Sister Wakolo spoke at the conference and I learned so much from them. They both have so much enthusiasm for missionary work. After the conference we had another meeting for the sisters with Sister Wakolo which was so good. But because of the second meeting we weren't able to leave until late, so we had to spend another night in Santiago because there weren't any more vans heading to Diffun.   Saturday was Dan's baptism! And it was so good! He has been so excited to get baptized for so long. He's so funny, but he's always really serious when we're teaching him. He loves bearing his testimony and is already planning on serving a mission. We've been so lucky to teach h

Kamusta y'all!    It feels like it's been a busy week, but I also don't feel like I have much to say, so we'll just see what happens. I'm almost done with my training, which is crazy because I still feel like I just got here. This week we had the baptism of Brother Jerome. His neighbor invited him to church, but when we first started teaching him he was really shy. But we kept visiting him with some other members, and they've actually become really good friends and helped him feel more comfortable with us. It feels like it was just the other week that we met Jerome, and we were so happy for him to be baptized and confirmed. We've been so blessed by the involvement of the members here. There are so many of them that are willing to work with us and are excited to meet and befriend the people we're teaching.   I know that our Heavenly Father is mindful of all His children no matter where they are in their lives. I've seen His hand in my

Bagyo 150

Kamusta y'all!    So this time around the bagyo actually affected us more than just being stuck inside for a day. For one, we had to evacuate to Santiago and stay with the sister training leaders there. We were told to bring enough stuff to stay for a week, but fortunately we got to come home Wednesday morning. The eye of the typhoon went right between us and Cauayan city, so it was a lot closer than last time. The storm started early Tuesday morning and was strongest from about 5-9am. From our apartment in the city, we didn't have a great view of what was happening, but we could see the trees blowing around like crazy. We were allowed to leave later in the afternoon, and went to visit some members and people the Santiago sisters are teaching. We couldn't return to Diffun on Tuesday because the roads were blocked by fallen trees, but we were able to leave Wednesday morning. The wind blew open some of the windows we'd locked so we had some water enter our
